Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde

In "Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde",the theme of friendship and loyalty is well portrayed by Mr.Utterson .
Mr.Utterson is a loyal friend.This is seen in the manner in which he protects Dr.Jekyll's image.When he notices Dr.Jekyll's signature on Mr.Hyde's cheque,he advises Richard Enfield,his nephew ,not to tell anyone about it.When he notices Dr.Jeykll's walking stick behind the door in Mr. Hyde's room,he remains quiet,too.Even when he sees Dr.Jekyll transform into Mr.Hyde, he remains silent and does not betray him.

An unforgettable event in "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" is the trampling on Edie, a little girl by Mr. Hyde. Richard Enfield is returning home in the wee hours of the morning when he sees a short man trampling on a little girl. The little girl screams in pain but the man just walks away. Richard Enfield is seething with anger. He has never seen such an inhuman act before. He later goes after ths man and demands compensation for Edie's parents.

I like the novel , 'Potato People' because it makes me realise how lucky I am; not having to face such a harsh life. The novel is set in Ireland in the 1840s where famine and epidemic are widespread due to the potato blight. During the blight, all the potato farms are destroyed.

A CHARACTER WHO IS BRAVE AND SHOW COURAGE IN HIS ACTION IN THE NOVEL ,"DR.JEKYLL AND MR.HYDE" IS RICHARD ENFIELD.ONE DAY RICHARD IS RETURNING HOME IN THE EARLY HOURS OF THE MORNING WHEN HE SEES A CHILD'S FAMILY. TO MAKE SURE THAT THE MAN KEEPS HIS WORD, HE COURAGEOUSLY ACCOMPANIES EDIE'S FATHER TO THE MAN'S HOUSE TO GET PROMISED SUM OF MONEY.

A lesson that I have learnt from the novel,"Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde" is being an honourable and loyal friend.Mr.Utterson is a good friend to everyone.He is honest and full of integrity.He does not reveal Dr.Jekyll's dual personality even though he knows about it.Mr.Utterson is someone who is very concerned about Dr.Jekyll when he is not well.He rushes to Dr.Jekyll's housewhen Poole,Dr.Jekyll's servant calls him.Friendship can only last if we are loyal and honourable to each other.

A character whom i would like to have as a friend in "Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde"is Mr. Utterson. Although he is dull and boring, he is a loyal friend and a man of integrity. This is seen in the manner in which he protects his good friend , Dr.Jekyll. When he realises that the signature on the cheque resembles that of Dr.Jekyll's, he ask his nephew, Richard Enfield to keep quiet about it. He also advises Dr.Jekyll to change his will so that it will not favour Mr.Hyde, an evil man. Having a friend like Mr.Utterson will definitely enrich one's life.

The most exciting event in Potato People

To me ,the most exciting event in the novel ,' Potato People ' ,is when Patrick Flyne and Marie went to the big and beautiful rich English Lord's house .Flynne stared at it .Through the window ,he could see bountiful food and well-dressed people .They were all nice .There was music .Marie then led the way and they ended up in the kitchen .It was funny in the manner in which they grabbed the food ;at the same time trembling with fear .If they were caught ,they would have been sent to prison for sure .Fortunately ,they were not ;and later ,they enjoyed themselves gobbling down the exquisite food .
